I have been active in the
Dalmatian breed for 19 years. We got our first Toller in 2003 because we
wanted a high level performance dog and were hoping to be able to compete in
conformation as well. After much research, we purchased our Toller from
Betty and David King of Quill Kennels in Colorado. We got everything that
we wanted and more! Kefi has proven herself as a performance dog and a
fantastic producer.
I have been active in conformation, agility,
obedience and road trials with my Dalmatians since 1985. My interest in the
breed stemmed from my interest in horses and the desire to find a breed that
was purpose-bred as a companion for horses. Dalmatians also inspired my
graduate work at Princeton University where I did my doctoral thesis on a white
spotting gene in mice.
I am chief of the Genetics Service of the
School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis. My job is to
help educate Veterinarians, breeders and owners about genetics. I advise them
on how to make educated breeding decisions in order to reduce the incidence of
inherited diseases in companion animals.
After much research I decided that the Nova
Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever was the breed for me. I wanted a high drive
performance dog that could go into the conformation ring as easily as an
agility ring. I also want to be involved with a breed club where temperament,
performance and health are as important as looks. I couldn't be more pleased
with my choice. Along the way I got completely hooked on field work and
that has taken over my life now! I look forward to being involved with
this breed for a long time.
